Application Systems Analyst - Policy Administration

<p><span>Pan-American Life Insurance (PALIG) is</span> an Application Systems Analyst - Policy Administration who will perform work with a high degree of latitude and provides technical support to the business area and is a liaison to the other IT teams and third-party vendors. Ideally targeting someone who is:</p><ul><li>Highly analytical and detail-oriented with a strong foundation in mathematics,</li><li>Deep experience in life insurance and systems: experience configuring Life Administration Systems, performs technical system design, manage and perform testing, and facilitate prioritization of development efforts. </li><li>Drive identification of tasks and estimation.</li><li>Must be able to communicate concepts as well as details at both a technical and business level, identify and communicate risk (in business terms), and provide conceptual modeling (business view).  </li><li>Has a good understanding of the SDLC and a basic knowledge of software development. </li><li>Assists with troubleshooting and resolving application issues and proactively works on solutions for preventing future issues. </li><li>Provide mentorship and training to peers and colleagues. </li><li>Provides after-hours support as needed.</li><li>Proactively and independently learns and utilizes new technology, concepts and procedures as appropriate for project requirements. </li><li>Maintains current knowledge of industry technology trends.</li></ul><p></p><p><u><b>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</b></u></p><p><b><span><span>Perform systems analysis in order to provide solutions and identify potential improvements:</span></span> </b></p><ul><li>Interpret data regarding current environment and document workflows and system access</li><li>Assist business in identification of business requirements and design of processes to support the business need and complement the technical solution. </li><li>Proactively and independently learns and utilizes new technology, concepts, and procedures as appropriate to project requirements.</li><li>Applies analytical skills and related application knowledge to define the information requirements necessary to design, build and install upgrades and/or new implementations</li><li>Considers and adheres to security protocols established by InfoSec</li><li>Identifies and documents recommendations for optimal workflow based on system capabilities</li></ul><p></p><p><b><span><span>Define, recommend, and support solutions for business need:</span></span> </b></p><ul><li>Works with business area to supports the creation of business cases including clarification of scope, identification of possible solutions, recommendation, project feasibility, cost estimations and schedule</li><li>Assist in the definition of user acceptance testing</li><li>Contributes to the development of training and support plans for end user application systems</li></ul><p></p><p><b><span><span>Support current project methodology (traditional waterfall or agile) while adhering to the System Development Lifecycle SDLC:</span></span></b></p><ul><li>Develops or helps in the development of work plans, task sequencing</li><li>Creates test plans in collaboration with the business area to support application and integration test scenarios</li><li>Works with business analysts and stakeholders to resolve scope issues and other conflicts.</li><li>Evaluates and recommends appropriate/optimal project approach according to project need</li><li>Utilize change management process</li></ul><p></p><p><b><span>Participate in and support IT department growth, change and continuous improvement:</span></b></p><ul><li>Represent Information Technology in a respectful and professional manner</li><li>Completes assigned tasks per defined project scope, timelines, and budgets</li><li>Proactively works with internal IT teams on technical troubleshooting, integration, reporting and training</li><li>Demonstrates creativity and passion to continuously learn</li><li>Follows department standards and procedures</li><li>Communicates effectively with technical team at all levels and with users at a non-technical and technical level</li><li>Improve productivity by highlighting deficiencies and recommending change in tools, training, or processes</li><li>Alerts senior management of any outages, problems or delays</li><li>Maintains knowledge of life insurance, technology and industry trends</li><li>Researches and recommends innovative and automated approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale for solutions. </li></ul><p></p><p><b>General & Application Support:</b></p><ul><li>Performs repetitive tasks to support business process</li><li>Monitors and assists in managing daily requests</li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve application pertaining to both hardware and software by providing technical support for analysis and isolation of the root cause</li><li>Configure and maintain Life Administration systems to support end to end life insurance policy administration, including but not limited to new business, underwriting, billing and claims workflows.</li></ul><p></p><p><u><b>KEY REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:</b></u></p><ul><li><span>Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science and 1 year experience m<span>athematics, actuarial science, business analytics, computer science or related field</span>; 4 years of additional experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. </span></li><li><span><span>1-2 years of relevant experience in life insurance or financial services industry with industry knowledge specific to concepts and terminology is strongly preferred</span></span></li><li><span><span>Willingness to learn and comply with life insurance regulations and compliance standards</span></span></li><li><span><span>Progress toward or an interest in obtaining Associate Life Management Institute (ALMI) or Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation</span></span> is preferred</li><li>SQL language and querying data</li><li>Reporting Tools (Crystal, COGNOS, CINCOM Eloquence, SQL Server Reporting Services)</li><li>Understanding of programming (.Net)</li><li>Experience with SDLC, project management and agile methodologies</li><li>Experience with automated testing</li><li>Work Management tools Jira, Confluence, Service Now</li><li>Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical individuals, including translation between the two</li><li>Takes initiative / proactive
