Position Overview

The Associate Public Health Consultant (Associate) provides planning, coordination, and project support to BME Strategies, a Massachusetts-based public health consulting firm. Associates work closely with project teams and clients to advance a wide range of initiatives, including program design and project management, grants management, emergency preparedness, coalition building, and performance improvement. They also support projects that provide technical assistance in areas such as public health communications, substance use and harm reduction, environmental health and inspectional services, vaccination campaigns and logistics, and strategic planning.

This role would be well-suited to someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to mission-driven public health projects. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who enjoys problem-solving, balancing multiple priorities, and supporting collaborative work in a remote, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

BME Org-Wide Responsibilities for Associate Consultants:

  • Customer service capabilities through a variety of acceptable experiences (retail, service, etc.).
  • Support role, with project leadership opportunities if/as needed.
  • Contributes to exemplary client satisfaction; may seek opportunities for proposal development support through copy-editing

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support multiple client projects through planning, coordination, and administrative support.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of public health programs, assessments, trainings, and evaluations.
  • Assist with grants management, including preparing budgets, monitoring spending, developing work plans, and submitting reports.
  • Coordinate meetings, trainings, and events, including scheduling, materials preparation, and follow-up documentation.
  • Maintain organized records, data, and tracking systems to support internal and client reporting.
  • Contribute to the development of written deliverables such as summaries, reports, presentations, and communication materials.
  • Assist in preparing grant proposals and other funding-related documents.
  • Support coalition and partnership activities by helping manage communication and logistics among stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with team members to continuously improve processes and client service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of BME’s mission and client commitments.

Experience, Qualification, & Skills

  • Minimum of one year experience working in applied public health (local, state, or federal level), project coordination, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field required.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse colleagues, clients, and community partners.
  • Experience with public health accreditation, quality improvement, or performance management initiatives is desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and standard project management tools.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Work Environment 

  • This is a full-time position based in a home office anywhere within the U.S.
  • BME Strategies in a remote-first organization. This role may require occasional travel to client sites, conferences, or meetings as required. 

Compensation & Benefits

  • BME Strategies offers a competitive compensation package that includes:

  • The salary range for this position is $70,720 - $83,200.

Please note: New employees are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint, dependent upon internal equity and the budgeted amount for the position.
