Dental Office manager/Billing Specialist- On site role ONLY

This is an in-person, in-office position located in Northern Virginia. This is NOT a remote or work-from-home role.

Dental Billing Specialist – Dental Office (Northern Virginia)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Dental Billing Specialist to join our growing dental practice in Northern Virginia. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of dental insurance billing, claims processing, accounts receivable, and patient financial communication. This role is essential in helping our office maintain accurate billing operations and excellent patient service.

Responsibilities

  • Submit and track dental insurance claims electronically and manually
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Follow up on unpaid, delayed, or denied insurance claims
  • Post insurance and patient payments accurately
  • Review EOBs and resolve claim discrepancies
  • Maintain accounts receivable and collections reports
  • Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and appeals
  • Explain treatment estimates, insurance coverage, and patient balances
  • Coordinate payment plans and collect outstanding balances
  • Ensure compliance with dental coding and billing regulations (CDT codes)
  • Maintain accurate patient financial records in practice management software
  • Work closely with front desk and clinical team to ensure accurate documentation

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of dental billing or dental insurance experience preferred
  • Knowledge of PPO, Medicaid, and out-of-network billing
  • Experience with Dentrix, Curve, or similar software
  • Familiarity with CDT coding and dental terminology
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced dental office environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with accounts receivable and insurance appeals preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Northern Virginia PPO insurance plans
  • Experience with fee-for-service and out-of-network dental offices
  • Understanding of treatment coordination and patient financing
  • Ability to improve collections and reduce claim aging

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-time or Part-time available
  • Monday–Friday
  • Competitive pay based on experience
