Detention Facility Officer (MALE)

<undefined><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" data-pasted="true">Under general supervision, receives prisoners to process, guard, escort, inspect, and search for unauthorized items in a 24/7 work environment operation.</span><br></undefined><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;" data-pasted="true"><li>Makes thorough searches of prisoners for contraband articles</li><li>Processes prisoner monies into kiosk, and creates prisoner debit cards.</li><li>Patrols assigned areas to ensure that prisoners do not escape or have access to unauthorized areas.</li><li>Inspects prisoners processing area for safety and sanitary conditions.</li><li>Prepares and maintains reports and logs.</li><li>Screens visitors for unauthorized items.</li><li>Oversees interviews between visitors and prisoners</li><li>Escorts prisoners to scheduled court appearances, and the hospital for treatments.</li><li>Testifies in court on search procedures and behavior patterns of prisoners</li><li>Monitors and processes information for the video arraignments and digitized mugging system procedures.</li><li>Delivers court records and documents to the courts or receiving agency.</li></ul><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" data-pasted="true">Additional Duties</p><div style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;" data-pasted="true"><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Receives detainees from arresting officers and thoroughly searches detainees prior to allowing them to enter Building 500.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Enters detainee information into Jail Management System (JMS) or other computer database.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Conducts Buccal swab (DNA collection) of detainees who are charged with a felony and do not have DNA on file.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Assists with the processing of juvenile detainees.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Washes/cleans detainee clothes.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Collects detainee property, records property content, places property in property bag and tags the property. Places property in proper storage area. Logs all property in and out of property room.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Livescans (fingerprint) and photographs (mugshot) detainees.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Assigns detainees to a designated cell or bullpen.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Conducts thirty (30) minute cell checks on all detainees by walking through the cellblock area and visually inspecting each detainee to ensure wellbeing.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Conducts fifteen (15) minute cell checks on all high-risk detainees or conduct continuous observation if needed.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Notifies medical staff and supervision for detainees who are ill, injured, or have pre-existing medical conditions.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Feeds detainees at the designated mealtime, accounting for each detainee who receives or refuses a meal and notifies a supervisor of how many meals were served and refused for desk blotter documentation.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Notifies supervision of detainee complaints.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Documents and notifies supervision of alleged assaults of detainees by other detainees.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Documents and notifies supervision when detainees damage City of Detroit property.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Prepares detainees for video arraignment.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Prepares detainees for conveyance to Wayne County Jail, or other facilities.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Ensures that all detainee property is returned to detainees who are being turned over to agencies for outstanding charges in other jurisdictions.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Ensures that all detainee property is returned to detainees upon release.</li><li style="margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in;">Must adhere to the department’s body worn camera (BWC) policy.</li></ul></div><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;" data-pasted="true"><li><p style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);
