Position Overview

The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis for Precision Oncology serves as a strategic finance leader and trusted business partner to the Precision Oncology leadership team, providing financial insight and guidance to support portfolio performance, pipeline investment, commercialization, and long-term value creation. This role leads financial planning, forecasting, and performance management processes while translating complex scientific, clinical, and operational strategies into actionable financial analyses and recommendations. The Director partners cross-functionally to drive informed decision-making, operational efficiency, gross margin improvement, and scalable growth within a dynamic, R&D-intensive healthcare environment, while also leading and developing a high-performing FP&A team and ensuring strong financial governance and compliance.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serve key finance leader and strategic partner to Precision Oncology BU Leadership Team, partnering closely with all other cross-functional leaders.
  • Act as a trusted thought partner, providing financial insight across portfolio performance, pipeline evolution, and long‑term value creation.
  • Lead end‑to‑end financial planning, forecasting, and performance management, including LBE, Plan and OEM processes.
  • Provide rigorous financial support for R&D investment, pipeline prioritization, and clinical and pre‑commercial decision‑making.
  • Translate scientific, clinical, and commercialization assumptions into clear financial scenarios, sensitivities, and trade‑offs.
  • Drive gross margin improvement by partnering across R&D, Operations, and Manufacturing to improve cost structure and scalability.
  • Identify and proactively communicate financial risks, opportunities, and key performance drivers.
  • Establish and continuously enhance FP&A processes to support a complex, R&D‑intensive, and evolving business model.
  • Maintain strong financial governance, internal controls, and compliance.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire the Precision Oncology FP&A team, setting a high bar for analytical excellence and accountability.
  • Effectively manage, support, and guide your team, including, but not limited to delegating tasks and responsibilities, assess employee performance and provide helpful feedback and training opportunities.
  • Consistent demonstration of exceptional leadership qualities, including, but not limited to the ability to attract and retain the best team, foster a culture of high performance, lead with integrity, humility, accountability, and courage, and set a clear vision to energize teams towards the future.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive FP&A or finance experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, financial modeling, and corporate finance.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver strategic insight to senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, CFA, or other advanced degree.
  • Experience in oncology, diagnostics, biopharma, or R&D‑intensive healthcare environments.
  • Experience supporting pipeline‑driven portfolios or product commercialization.
  • Prior experience building and scaling high‑performing finance teams.

Salary Range:

$171,000.00 - $291,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
