And you're skilled at delivering consistent, clear, constructive feedback.</p> <p><strong>Primary responsibilities</strong> include:</p> <ul> <li>Managing and supporting reporters through editorial brainstorming and execution.</li> <li>Owning the company's vision and communicating it clearly to your teams.</li> <li>Experimenting with and leveraging AI to drive workflow efficiencies.</li> <li>Story and newsletter editing in our Smart Brevity style.</li> <li>Writing stories and newsletter items when needed.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Worthy of your time:</strong> Ideal candidates will operate with a startup mentality and an entrepreneurial spirit, and have the following skills and qualities:</p> <ul> <li>Based preferably in North Carolina.</li> <li>Experience in a fast-paced newsroom. Experience editing daily newsletters is a plus.</li> <li>A deep understanding of the major metros in North Carolina and what topics are important to the people who live there.</li> <li>Sharp story framing skills, and the ability to help reporters craft conceptual scoops. </li> <li>Strong conversational writing skills, and the ability to coach reporters to write conversationally.</li> <li>Experience managing reporters at varying levels of seniority.</li> <li>A belief in Smart Brevity.</li> <li>The desire to help make your teams indispensable to local readers.</li> </ul> <p><em>Starting salary for this role is in the range of $85,000 - $105,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation benefits. Axios' compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country.
