Electrical Engineering - Project Engineer

Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Engineering & Design team developing innovative avionics, aircraft instruments, and electrical power solutions for the Aerospace & Defense industry. In this role, you will design, analyze, and validate mixed-signal and power electronics hardware used in general, business, commercial, and military aviation applications. You will translate system and regulatory requirements into robust electrical designs, create schematics, select components, and guide PCB layout for high‑reliability aerospace products, including power conversion, backup power, and control circuitry.

Working closely with systems, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers, you will participate in the full product lifecycle—from concept and feasibility through detailed design, prototyping, design verification, environmental testing, certification support, and transition to production. You will generate and maintain engineering documentation, including requirements, design analyses, test plans, test reports, and configuration records in accordance with aerospace and quality management standards. You will support design reviews, FMEAs, and root-cause investigations, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement to ensure precision, reliability, and long-term product performance in demanding flight environments.

The position requires hands-on work in the lab, including circuit bring-up, troubleshooting, and performance optimization using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and other test equipment. You will ensure designs comply with aviation regulatory and industry standards, such as RTCA/DO-160 for environmental conditions and test procedures, RTCA/DO-254 for complex electronic hardware (as applicable), and relevant EMI/EMC and safety standards. You will collaborate directly with internal and external customers, program managers, and operations teams to balance technical performance, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.

Ideal candidates bring experience in aerospace, defense, or other high‑reliability sectors, with a strong foundation in analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, signal integrity, and design for manufacturability and test. You will thrive in Mid-Continent’s aviation‑focused, quality‑driven, and customer‑centric culture, contributing to products that enhance flight safety and reliability worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to work with experienced aerospace professionals, grow your expertise in regulated, high‑precision avionics and electrical power systems, and take pride in supporting pilots, operators, and aerospace partners across the globe.
