Engineer II - Industrial Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Industrial Engineer performs analyze current processes and procedures. Implement improvements that maximize productivity, reduce wastefulness, and ensure high quality results.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze current productivity data.
  • Determine the best options for process improvement tactics.
  • Train employees in new practices.
  • Analyze output with new practices.
  • Manage and lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Promote efficiency and safety in the workplace.
  • Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the production processes and components, business and other technology including materials.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in team management and support activities, providing guidance and assistance to Industrial Technicians as needed.
  • Contribute to layout optimization efforts by analyzing and proposing potential improvements.
  • Support capacity planning and analysis activities.
  • Participate in time-study analysis and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects, providing technical expertise and support.
  • Support OEE calculations and analysis, contributing to the evaluation and improvement of equipment performance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing appropriate strategies.
  • Assist in man-machine calculations and analysis to optimize workstations.
  • Support 5S implementation activities.
  • Assist in takt time analysis and calculations.
  • Contribute to the management and analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Support layout design activities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat.
  • Works in a fast-paced engineering/manufacturing lab environment.
  • Also works in a standard office environment and uses general office equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.).
  • Works under limited supervision.
  • Overtime may be necessary in times of increased demand.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate and interpret data.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership skills in implementing productivity changes.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Familiar with Cause & Effect Diagram, 5 Why, & Pareto Principle.
  • Understanding of basic Lean methodologies of Flow, Poka Yoke, & Heijunka.
  • Troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Documentation and organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage many projects at one time.
EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience.
Desirable:
  • Familiar with ISO quality system.
  • Familiar with plant operation system.
  • Have good knowledge in 6Sigma, SPC, FMEA, lean manufacturing.
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
