Income Tax Specialist
EthosEnergy is currently seeking a Income Tax Specialist for our Houston, TX facility. The Income Tax Professional is responsible for managing federal and state income tax compliance, reporting, and audit defense. This role ensures the organization meets all income tax obligations accurately and timely. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of federal and state income laws, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Federal and State Income Tax Compliance
- Prepare federal income tax returns.
- Prepare state and local income/franchise tax returns, extensions, and estimated tax calculations.
- Manage apportionment computations, state modifications, and NOLs.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with varying filing requirements and deadlines. Audit Support
- Respond to tax audit inquiries, notices, and information requests. Research & Planning
- Conduct research on complex tax issues, including nexus, apportionment, legislative updates, and emerging tax risks.
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of income/franchise tax concepts (nexus, apportionment, unitary rules, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and common tax compliance systems. Corptax experience is a plus.
- Ability to research and interpret complex tax statutes and regulations. Soft Skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem solving abilities.
