Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Director-level Insurance Solutions Specialist to join our North America wealth management team. This senior leadership role requires a comprehensive understanding of the wealth management landscape and how insurance integrates with other functions to achieve Client objectives.

The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in advanced insurance concepts with a proven track record of serving Retail, High-Net-Worth (HNW), and Ultra-High-Net-Worth (UHNW) clients. This is a "player-coach" position that requires the ability to lead and develop a team of insurance specialists while also maintaining significant personal production and client engagement. You will be a visible leader to senior management and a clear ambassador for the growth and success of the North America insurance business.

Key Responsabilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Business Development:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to drive insurance revenue growth across all assigned Citi wealth segments.
    • Partner with senior leadership to establish sales targets, business plans, and key performance indicators for the team, owning the collective results in sales, hiring, and productivity.
    • Provide regular business updates and market results to senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Team Management & Talent Development (Player-Coach):
    • Actively manage personal, self-generated production and lead by example in achieving and exceeding individual sales goals.
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Regional Insurance Specialists.
    • Provide strong leadership, conviction, and motivation to all direct reports, fostering a proactive culture of high performance, collaboration, and professional growth.
    • Demonstrate an ability to attract, recruit, and retain top Insurance Specialist talent in relevant markets.
    • Provide expert guidance on complex cases, advanced sales concepts, and sophisticated planning techniques.
  • Client Engagement & Subject Matter Expertise:
    • Serve as the primary subject matter expert on advanced insurance solutions, including wealth transfer, estate planning, business succession, and tax mitigation strategies.
    • Engage directly with HNW/UHNW clients and their advisors to understand their complex financial needs and present sophisticated, tailored insurance solutions.
    • Deliver dynamic and compelling presentations to both internal and external audiences, effectively communicating the value proposition of insurance within a holistic wealth plan.
  • Partnership & Collaboration:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with Financial Advisors, Private Bankers, Investment Consultants and other key partners within Citigold, Wealth at Work, and the Private Bank segments.
    • Collaborate seamlessly with internal partners to ensure insurance solutions are integrated into the broader client wealth strategy.
    • Communicate effectively with senior management and partners representing functions across the franchise, including HR, Legal, Risk, and Compliance.
    • Work in partnership with leading 3rd party insurance carriers and insurance brokerages to source appropriate product solutions for Clients.
  • Risk Management & Compliance:
    • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
    • Effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standard.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of robust insurance sales experience; prior insurance sales management is required.
    • Demonstrable experience working with High-Net-Worth and Ultra-High-Net-Worth clients and their complex planning needs.
    • Proven experience in a senior leadership or management capacity, with the ability to coach and develop a sales team across multiple geographic regions.
    • Master's Degree (MBA) is highly desirable.
    • Advanced professional designations such as Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), or Certified Financial Planner (CFP®).
    • Experience at a large, global financial institution with a matrixed organizational structure.
    • Travel is required for client meetings, team management, and internal conferences (approximately 10%-25%).
    • State Life, Accident, and Health insurance licenses are required.
    • FINRA Series 7, 24 and 63/66 licenses.
    • Must meet ALL US FINRA Registration requirements within 150 days of starting in the role.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Expert knowledge of advanced life insurance concepts, products, and strategies (e.g., PPLI, VUL, IUL, survivorship).
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and influence a team of senior sales professionals.
    • Exceptional sales acumen, client engagement, and relationship management skills.
    • Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking with the ability to make critical and objective decisions.
    • Outstanding presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Including strong knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office suite of products for presentations, activity tracking and communications.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
