GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under close supervision by the Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the overall health, safety, and welfare of community citizens who patronize the city’s public pool. Position is responsible for ensuring pool and facility areas remain safe and guarded at all times.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this position. Sits in guard chair and guards pool activities.
Supervises the activities of the public in utilizing pool and center facilities, particularly the activities of children using the pool, enforcing established safety rules and regulations.
Maintains a positive and professional image for fellow workers and patrons.
Ensures all equipment and pool areas are in safe and serviceable condition.
Maintains current certifications by attending required seminars, classes, workshops, etc.
Performs First Aid and CPR as necessary.
Performs related work as required.
Attends Inservice Weekly
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent; supplemented by successful completion of approved lifeguard course; First Aid and CPR certification; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Physical Requirements: Tasks involve frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping; some lifting and carrying objects of moderate to heavy weight (25-50 pounds), and occasionally very heavy (100+ pounds) items.
Data Conception:Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, or composite characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.
