A day in the life of a Regional Accounting Manager (Revenue Accounting) at VF looks a little like this. The Regional Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing revenue accounting activities across multiple brands and channels within a publicly traded, multi‑brand organization. This role ensures accurate, consistent, and compliant revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP (ASC 606), supports period‑end close, and acts as a key business partner to Commercial, Sales, FP&A, and Operations teams. The role requires strong technical accounting expertise, operational rigor, and the ability to lead and develop a regional revenue accounting team while navigating complex business models (e.g., wholesale, DTC, e‑commerce, licensing, and intercompany transactions). Revenue Accounting and Technical Leadership - Review and assess new and modified business arrangements to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment in accordance with ASC 606 and company policy. - Oversee revenue recognition across multiple brands, legal entities, and sales channels, ensuring consistent application of accounting guidance. - Evaluate and approve revenue-related estimates and reserves, including returns, allowances, promotions, and chargebacks, in compliance with US GAAP. - Serve as the regional subject‑matter expert on revenue accounting matters, providing guidance to cross‑functional stakeholders. Period-End Close & Financial Reporting - Lead month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end revenue close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis, and management reporting. - Ensure accurate and timely reporting of revenue related components of the financial statements in alignment with corporate close timelines. - Partner with Corporate Accounting and External Reporting teams to support quarterly and annual SEC reporting requirements. Controls, Compliance & Audit - Maintain and enhance internal controls related to revenue recognition, ensuring proper documentation, execution, and audit readiness. - Act as the primary revenue accounting contact for internal and external audits, supporting walkthroughs, testing, and issue resolution. - Identify control gaps or process inefficiencies and drive remediation and continuous improvement initiatives. Business Partnership & Cross Functional Collaboration - Collaborate closely with Commercial, Sales Operations, FP&A, Legal, and IT teams on revenue‑impacting initiatives, system changes, and new go‑to‑market strategies. - Support pricing, contract reviews, and deal structuring by providing accounting input on revenue implications. - Proactively communicate revenue risks, emerging issues, and accounting impacts to regional and corporate leadership Team Leadership & Development - Manage, coach, and develop a regional revenue accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence. - Set clear expectations, review work output, and provide ongoing performance feedback. - Support talent development, succession planning, and knowledge sharing across brands and regions. The foundation skills you will need in this position are: - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related Field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred. - Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, specifically ASC 606 - Demonstrated experience leading or materially contributing to month‑end close, internal control compliance, and audit support - Proven ability to partner cross‑functionally and communicate complex accounting topics to non‑accounting stakeholders - Experience in consumer, retail, apparel, footwear, or multi‑brand environments preferred - SAP experience - Strong technical accounting judgment with effective problem‑solving skills capabilities - Highly analytical with strong attention to detail and data integrity - Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including talent development - Executive‑level communication and influencing skills - Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, matrixed organization Now WE have a question for YOU.
