Music Analyst / Host – R&B Analysis Series/Podcast - R&B ONLY

Job Description:

  • We are launching a new intellectual-yet-accessible video series inspired by the Dissect podcast model, bringing deep storytelling, lyrical and musical analysis, and cultural commentary to the R&B genre.
  • We’re looking for a charismatic, thoughtful, and highly knowledgeable Host to be the voice and face of our new R&B music analysis series.
  • The ideal candidate blends scholarly curiosity with approachable delivery, generating complex ideas about songwriting, production, and cultural context for a broad audience.
  • If based in the Los Angeles, CA metro area, we’d like to shoot at our production facility with professional equipment and resources available. If the chosen candidate is outside of Los Angeles, CA, we will provide and set up all necessary production equipment for in-home shoots.
  • This is not a news-reading role; we want someone who can lead deep dives into songs, albums, and cultural moments that tell compelling stories.

Requirements:

  • Deep Knowledge of R&B Music: History, influential albums/artists, lyrical trends, production techniques, and cultural moments.
  • Music Theory Proficiency: Understanding of chord progressions, harmony, rhythm, and arrangement to support in-depth musical analysis.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to articulate complex musical ideas in a clear, engaging, and relatable way.
  • Storytelling Ability: Experience in weaving narrative arcs that hold audience attention.
  • On-Camera & Voice Talent: Comfortable and confident in front of the camera and behind the mic.
