Remote Supply Chain Solutions Manager

PURPOSE:

The Manager Supply Chain Solutions will be responsible for developing and supporting various supply chain initiatives across UNFI’s current and future national network.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engages and supports Operations and Sales teams in pursuing new customers, assessing network capacity and developing an optimal design to meet the customers’ demands
  • Analyze and develop warehouse design and capacity (data analysis, profiling, warehouse sizing, capacity analysis, layout design)
  • Provides advanced analytical support on new opportunities, re-engineering and continuous improvement projects
  • Able to identify process improvement opportunities within existing operations (re-warehousing, potential application of new technologies)
  • Drive and/or support RFI/RFP process from solutions perspective to support design
  • Develop presentations to illustrate design and results
  • Supports the development of Facility Design standards and playbook to ensure consistency across the network
  • Demonstrates advanced skills in leveraging software applications and researching industry trends and benchmarks in support of design activity
  • Incorporates appropriate business skills into design work (e.g. statistics, operations research, organizational behavior, finance, accounting, information technology etc.)
  • Understanding of the big-picture challenges and bottom-line realities
  • Lead and fosters the exchange of information and ideas (e.g. facilitation) to develop new solutions
  • To provide support to achieve the various Distribution (Supply chain) targets through the collaborating across various cross functional teams
  • Perform other design duties as assigned by direct manager in support of UNFI’s continued growth targets

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience in related field

Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in Facility Design (greenfield design), warehouse operations, supply chain, Third Party Logistics, transportation or a related field
  • Experience and / or training with LEAN - Six Sigma programs an asset

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Strong understanding of various warehouse automation technologies and current with industry trends
  • Knowledge and understanding of problem and solution approach

Skills/ Abilities:

  • Strong competency with design and analytical tools including AutoCAD, Excel, MS Power BI, Access, transportation modeling and presentation software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to analyze, creative, attentions to details and draw conclusions from large and complex operational data
  • Strong drive and self-starter
  • Independent, well organized, ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deliver quality while meeting deadlines
  • Strong design and facility layout skills,
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate and influence others across multiple cross-functional teams with varied background and experiences
  • Ability to lead and motivate others
  • Ability to multi-task, manage priorities, adhere to timelines while delivering high quality solutions that help the customer meet needs
  • Work in diverse environments and conditions.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:

  • Travel to US and Canadian DCs required
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workday

Compensation:

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
