They are seeking a UI/UX artist to join their Unreal Engine 5 game project, focusing on designing player-friendly interfaces for Nintendo Switch. The role emphasizes collaboration with in-house teams and requires both artistic and technical skills. Responsibilities Design and implement intuitive UI layouts, menus, and HUD elements in Unreal Engine 5 Create UX flows that prioritise clarity, usability, and accessibility for a wide range of players Follow the given art direction and expend upon its visual identity of the game’s interface, including iconography, typography, and graphic elements Collaborate with game designers, artists, and engineers to ensure UI/UX integrates seamlessly with gameplay systems Develop accessibility features such as scalable text, colorblind-safe palettes, control remapping, and audio/visual cues Produce wireframes, prototypes, and style guides for consistent design and art direction Optimise UI for performance across platforms without sacrificing clarity or accessibility Stay current on accessibility standards, best practices, and evolving player needs Skills Proven experience designing UI/UX for games, ideally in Unreal Engine 5 Experience level suited for intermediate to senior roles Strong portfolio showcasing interface design, visual polish, and player-centric workflows Knowledge of Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG and Nintendo accessibility standards for Switch) Ability to translate complex gameplay systems into clear, usable interfaces Strong graphic design fundamentals composition, typography, hierarchy, spacing Can deliver polished, game-ready elements showcasing strong illustrative instincts (Icon sets, etc.) Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Unreal UMG/Slate Strong collaboration and communication skills across disciplines, time zones, and cultures in a small, fast-paced team Experience with motion design or animation for UI transitions Familiarity with localisation and supporting multiple languages Knowledge of player research, usability testing, and iterative design Benefits A competitive salary.
