AG Grant is a modern, technology-driven accounting firm supporting fast-growing startups and established companies across the United States and Canada. Our clients rely on us for accurate financial reporting, operational insight, and dependable month-end close processes.
We are looking for an experienced Accountant with strong technical accounting fundamentals who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-client environment and can work independently with minimal oversight.
This is not a bookkeeping role.
This is not an AP/AR role.
Candidates who have only supported month-end close, rather than personally owning it, will not be considered.
This is a fully remote position. Candidates must be physically located in the United States or Canada.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Managing month-end close processes across multiple client accounts
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements
- Recording journal entries, accruals, adjusting entries, and reclassifications
- Performing bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows
- Monitoring client accounts and assisting with collections when necessary
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Supporting revenue recognition and financial analysis
- Identifying accounting anomalies, miscoding, and cutoff issues before they become client problems
- Working directly with internal team members and external partners such as CPAs, auditors, founders, and executives
- Identifying opportunities for automation, process improvement, and operational efficiency
Required Accounting Knowledge
Candidates must demonstrate solid, working knowledge of the following — not just familiarity.
Accounting Fundamentals
- Accrual vs. cash basis accounting — including when and why each is used, and the ability to identify and question anomalies
- Core accounting equation — must be able to clearly distinguish between assets, liabilities, and equity in real-world scenarios
- General ledger management and journal entries
- Financial statement preparation, review, and error detection
- Month-end and year-end close processes
Advanced Technical Accounting
- Equity accounting, shareholder transactions, and retained earnings
- Prepaid expenses, amortization schedules, reversals, and refund scenarios
- Fixed assets, capitalization, depreciation, and disposals
- Payroll accounting and payroll liability reconciliations
- Sales tax and regulatory filings
- Loan accounting, interest accruals, and liability analysis
- Intercompany accounting and eliminations
- Deferred revenue and revenue recognition concepts
You must have personally managed month-end close for multiple companies or clients simultaneously. Experience supporting one internal company only is typically not enough for this role.
Candidates may be asked to explain deferred revenue, subscription billing, prepaid amortization, payroll liabilities, equity transactions, and intercompany accounting during live interview scenarios.
