Backflip’s capital product menu consists of fix and flip financing (RTL), single family rental loans (DSCR), and Ground-Up Construction.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">Backflip is seeking a <strong>Senior AssetCo Accountant</strong> with investment management and loan-securitization experience to help us bring key accounting and fund administration functions in-house. This experienced accountant will play a critical role in designing and implementing institutional-grade accounting and close processes for our investment management entities and public securitization vehicles. This role will lead the insourcing and institutionalization of accounting functions currently performed with third-party support, including bookkeeping, close support, servicing support, investor reporting support, and entity-level reporting including securitization.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">The Senior AssetCo Accountant will report to Backflip’s Head of Accounting and will work closely with internal Finance and Capital Markets teams and with various external partners (eg, fund administrators, auditors, tax preparers) to build repeatable processes and institutional controls while meeting critical deadlines for accurate, comprehensive investment management and securitization reporting.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Lead accounting workflows for investment management entities and related securitizations, including:</p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Day-to-day accounting activities (journal entries, accruals, allocations, etc)</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Monthly and quarterly close activities</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Tracking securitization cash flows, reserves, fees, and balances</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Reconciliations between trustee/servicer reports, Backflip’s loan management system (LoanPro), and the GL</p></li></ul></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Prepare internal tracking and compliance schedules related to asset management and securitization activities, including equity and debt balances, interest expense, issuance costs, and covenant compliance</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Plan and implement the insourcing of processes currently performed through a third-party fund administrator (entity bookkeeping, reconciliations, close support, reporting, and audit/tax support)</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Oversee audit, tax, and stakeholder support, including coordinating with auditors, tax preparers, trustees, and administrators</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strengthen internal controls and accounting rigor as the platform scales</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Draft and maintain high-quality accounting and reporting process documentation, including</p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Accounting policies, close checklists, and support schedules</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Standardizing charts of accounts</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">SOPs, templates, and recurring schedules</p></li></ul></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><p style="min-height:1.5em">This role is expected to evolve and grow over time to include responsibilities and opportunities beyond those listed here. We anticipate adding additional investment management and securitization vehicles as the company scales.
