You will be responsible for stabilizing, extending, and scaling a cross-platform desktop application built with Electron and TypeScript that communicates with connected devices via byte-level protocols. This role emphasizes strong experience in event-driven systems, asynchronous programming, and application architecture. You will play a key role in improving the reliability, usability, and maintainability of the system, particularly in areas where device interaction introduces timing sensitivity and complexity. You will have significant ownership over application design and the shaping of development practices in a small, fast-moving team.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><h1><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></h1><p style="min-height:1.5em">● 6+ years of experience building and maintaining production-grade software applications, with a strong focus on TypeScript/JavaScript and Node.js<strong>.</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Experience developing cross-platform desktop applications (Electron or similar frameworks).</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Experience debugging complex systems involving asynchronous workflows and timing-sensitive interactions with low-level protocols.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Strong understanding of modular design and dependency management in modern JavaScript ecosystems.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks (e.g., Jest), including mocking complex interfaces.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and release processes.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Experience with modern tooling and best practices around API design patterns and development.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Proficiency with version control systems such as Git.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, and improve existing codebases.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote-first environment.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><h1><strong>Nice to Have Qualifications</strong></h1><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Familiar with HW/SW exploitation including application reverse engineering.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● 8+ years software engineering experience.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● A BS or higher in Computer Science or related fields.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Experience with Electron in production environments, including packaging, updates, and cross-platform issues.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Experience building applications that interface with hardware devices, embedded systems, or robotics platforms.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Familiarity with USB communication, serial protocols, or device I/O debugging.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Experience improving or refactoring fragile or legacy codebases into more stable and maintainable systems.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Experience contributing to or defining software development lifecycle practices in small teams (testing strategy, release processes, observability, etc.).</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">● Familiarity with Docker, AWS, or distributed system components.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><h1>Working at Edgesource</h1><p style="min-height:1.5em">As an ISO 9001:2015 certified and CMMI Level 3 appraised small business, Edgesource specializes in providing a variety of technical solutions to include software development, database services, enterprise networking, data center virtualization, and management support.
