Help us build the data engine behind Coupang Ads. Our team provides the foundational platform that manages and serves all data used in our ads-serving pipeline.</p><p><br></p><p>We’re looking for backend experts passionate about big data and high-concurrency systems. You’ll be tasked with building a scalable, resilient, and low-latency infrastructure from the ground up, turning massive data streams into real-time business impact.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>What You Will Do:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Architect and scale</strong> high-throughput data processing pipelines and serving infrastructure critical to real-time ad delivery.</li><li><strong>Engineer our next-generation data platform</strong>, focusing on self-service capabilities that empower cross-functional teams to deploy data into production with minimal friction.</li><li><strong>Bridge the gap between business strategy and technical execution</strong>, translating complex ads logic into highly distributed, efficient, and resilient system architectures.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or a closely related field</li><li>8 years of experience in backend software development</li><li>Experience working in cloud environments, particularly AWS</li><li>Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining highly available, distributed systems</li><li>Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results</li><li>Experience building ads serving system.</li><li>Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with technical and non- technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization</li><li>Ability to work in multi-cultural, cross functional team</li><li>Experience building highly scalable and low latency systems in a fast paced, team-oriented environment</li><li>Experience leading a project of building large scale data serving platform</li><li>Proficiency in Java and the Spring Frameworks</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Ability and desire to drive solid design work on multi-threaded/multi-process, distributed system</li><li>A passion to explore, improve, automate and optimize distributed systems and tools</li><li>Proven ability to lead and collaborate in cross-functional, fast-paced environments</li><li>Ability to think outside-the-box and challenge conventional wisdoms</li><li>Experience with advertising systems/Search advertising/Advertising Marketplace/Display advertising/Ad Server</li><li>Experience working with AWS (Amazon web services)</li><li>Familiarity with Agile development practices, including code reviews, testing, and CI/CD pipelines</li><li>Experience managing mission-critical services with high throughput and low latency</li><li>Experience working in fast pacing environment</li><li>Experience with Spark/Hive/Redis//Kafka</li><li>Strong communication skills for interfacing with technical teams, business stakeholders, and end users</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Pay & Benefits </strong><em> </em></p><p>Our compensation reflects the cost of living across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.</p><p><br></p><p>The base pay for Senior Staff position ranges from $174/year to $299/year. The base pay for a Staff position ranges from $164K to $282K/year.
