It all starts with our purpose and then, The Five Below Way, which is our values and behaviors that each and every associate believes in.</p><p></p><p>It’s all about culture at Five Below, making this a place that can inspire you as much as you inspire us with big ideas, super energy, passion, and the ability to make the workplace a WOWplace!</p><p></p><p></p><div><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p></div><p><b>Payroll Processing</b></p><ul><li>Own preparation and processing of weekly and biweekly payroll for 20,000+ employees</li><li>Ensure accuracy and timeliness by reviewing payroll data for completeness and resolving discrepancies</li><li>Serve as a lead resource for troubleshooting payroll issues and escalating as appropriate</li><li>Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Benefits, Finance, and Time & Attendance teams</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Payroll Tax Compliance</b></p><ul><li>Lead periodic compliance audits across all payroll tax obligations to ensure ongoing compliance</li><li>Identify discrepancies and drive resolution with internal stakeholders</li><li>Build and maintain audit documentation, internal controls, and compliance tracking processes</li><li>Serve as the internal subject matter expert on payroll tax compliance matters</li><li>Own quarterly compliance tracking and ensure timely implementation of regulatory updates</li><li>Support SOX compliance requirements as applicable to payroll and tax activities</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Tax Vendor Management</b></p><ul><li>Serve as the primary point of contact for the company’s payroll tax vendor (BSI)</li><li>Ensure taxes are assigned accurately and processed on a timely basis</li><li>Monitor vendor performance and escalate issues to leadership as appropriate</li><li>Coordinate between the vendor and internal payroll operations to resolve discrepancies</li><li>Manage vendor configuration updates resulting from regulatory or system changes</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Tax Configuration & Reconciliation</b></p><ul><li>Own end-to-end payroll tax reconciliation and ensure accuracy of all tax filings</li><li>Monitor tax configuration in Workday Payroll to ensure proper withholding across all jurisdictions</li><li>Review and reconcile payroll tax adjustments, amended returns, and retroactive payments</li><li>Lead year-end tax activities including W-2 preparation, ACA reporting, and final reconciliations</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Earnings, Deductions & System Configuration</b></p><ul><li>Own configuration and maintenance of earnings and deductions in Workday Payroll</li><li>Partner with HR and Benefits to ensure accurate deduction setup including benefits and retirement plans</li><li>Validate system configuration changes and assess downstream payroll impact before deployment</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Data Analysis & Reporting</b></p><ul><li>Prepare ad-hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports ensuring accuracy and timeliness</li><li>Perform payroll data analysis to identify trends, errors, and process improvement opportunities</li><li>Own data reconciliation between payroll and internal systems (Time & Attendance, Accounting)</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Process Improvement</b></p><ul><li>Proactively identify and lead payroll process improvements, including post-implementation optimization</li><li>Own assigned process improvement initiatives from scoping through execution</li><li>Partner with cross-functional teams to drive system enhancements and best practices</li><li>Document processes and contribute to team cross-training and knowledge transfer</li></ul><p></p><div><p><b>Qualifications</b></p></div><p><b>Education & Experience</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field</li><li>5+ years of payroll experience with deep knowledge of processing, compliance, and tax</li><li>Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll required;
