Summary The Senior Packaging Engineer - Global Oral Care develops and manages packaging initiatives on a global scale to drive People Centric Innovation, Perceivable Superiority, Cost Efficiency & Sustainability, as well as supporting the Divisional Packaging teams. The position is part of the Global Oral Care Packaging group within Colgate-Palmolive's Global Packaging function.

This Senior Packaging Engineer role focuses on Global Packaging Technology development, qualification and implementation. In addition, the role serves as an Oral Care Packaging subject matter expert to support the divisional/regional packaging teams with aligned testing plans, technical support and cross divisional coordination.

The role is cross-functional, working very closely with the Enterprise Oral Care and Division/Regional Marketing teams, Product Development, Design, Supply Chain and the Divisional/Regional Category Packaging teams to deliver results.

This role directly supports the Sr. Director Global Oral Care Packaging, and supports the broader Oral Care packaging teams.

Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating and managing Global Oral Care package development programs, new innovations, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Package Global Process & Qualification standardization
  • Manage the development of new Global H1 and H2 packaging concepts
  • Partner very closely with Global Marketing and Consumer Insights to identify opportunities to explore new Packaging concepts.
  • Contribute meaningfully in the Design stage of New Product Development, focusing primarily on Consumer needs and elevating UX
  • Responsible for solving technical challenges in which solutions can be standardized globally.
  • Recognize the value of ergonomics in Packaging design and in-use experience and keep at the center of development.
  • Have a solid understanding of the technical elements of Packaging, but not be bound by the current state of the industry.
  • Understand the financial components of Packaging and Colgate-Palmolive’s cost structure to guide development. Generate and present valid Total Delivered Cost information on package/process and other pertinent financial information
  • Independently and proactively manage timelines to ensure fastest possible project timing.
  • Identify and provide rationale for funds needed to successfully deliver project goals and operate within project budgets
  • Network with packaging material suppliers and raise awareness to new innovation solutions globally
  • Develop packaging solutions that elevate in-line quality as well as at home experience (in turn reducing complaints)
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors in Packaging, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related field
  • 6+ years experience in consumer goods, cosmetic, or pharmaceutical industry
  • 5+ years experience in Packaging, with a focus on development
  • Experience developing packaging using a wide variety of materials and technologies (e.g. Printing, Cartons, Films and Laminates, Rigid containers and corrugate systems)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or Masters Degree in Packaging, Industrial Design, Engineering or a related field
  • Ability to understand technical complexities and negotiate with Product Development and Quality to take a risk based approach to packaging development and implementation
  • Builds and leverages internal and external partnerships to generate new ideas and quickly identify and develop new packaging solutions
  • Able to present technology in a clear manner to technical and non technical audiences
Compensation and Benefits Salary Range $109,600.00 - $155,000.00
