Staff R&D Robotics Electrical Engineer (Pittsburgh, PA)

As a Staff Robotics Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing next generation robotic systems that support joint replacement surgery. Working from our Pittsburgh, PA location, you will collaborate with highly skilled, cross functional teams to take innovative concepts from early design through to production and launch. What will you be doing? Leading electrical design activities for new surgical robotic products from concept through production and launch Acting as a technical lead on design teams, working independently while mentoring and supporting other engineers Developing electrical system architectures and mixed signal PCBA designs including schematics, component selection and PCB layout Performing board bring up, functional testing, troubleshooting and root cause analysis on complex embedded systems Designing, assembling and testing prototypes and evaluating performance against requirements and specifications Developing and executing test plans to support design verification and validation Leading and contributing to design reviews, providing technical insight to drive quality and compliance Collaborating closely with electrical, firmware, software, mechanical, quality, manufacturing, systems and regulatory partners Ensuring design documentation and processes comply with quality system and regulatory requirements What will you need to be successful? Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 8 or more years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6 or more years of experience Strong hands on experience designing mixed signal PCBA schematics and layouts using ECAD tools such as Altium Proven experience with embedded systems, 32 bit microcontrollers, board bring up and debugging real time applications Solid understanding of communication protocols including SPI, I2C, USB, TCP IP and EtherCAT Experience integrating sensors, motors and computing technologies into complex electrical systems Background in EMC EMI compliant design and applying DFM DFT principles Experience working in a regulated environment such as medical devices is highly valued You.
