Job Summary:

Currituck County Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to support student learning and assist teachers in daily classroom activities. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, inclusive learning environment and help promote academic and social success for all students.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist the classroom teacher with instruction, classroom management, and preparation of materials.
  • Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Supervise students in various settings including the classroom, lunchroom, playground, and during transitions.
  • Support students with special needs as assigned.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom.
  • Perform clerical duties such as photocopying, grading simple assignments, and organizing supplies.
  • Attend training, workshops, and meetings as required.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 48 semester hours of college coursework or Associate's degree required.
  • Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
  • Basic knowledge of child development and instructional strategies.
