Treasury Accounting Manager - Global Funding and Debt

The Treasury Manager within Controllership is responsible for overseeing accounting, reporting, and controls related to treasury activities, including debt, liquidity, and funding strategy. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and internal control frameworks (SOX).

The position partners closely with Treasury, FP&A, Tax, and external auditors to support accurate financial reporting, capital markets activity, and execution of the company’s funding strategy. Leveraging financial systems, we strive to increase visibility, improve efficiency, shorten decision cycle times, and reinforce financial integrity and accountability.

What You'll Do

  • Partnering with Treasury to develop the company’s annual debt issuance strategy
  • Translating funding activities into accounting and financial reporting impacts
  • Supporting execution of capital markets transactions (bond issuances, credit facilities, refinancing)
  • Ensuring alignment between funding strategy and liquidity, leverage, and capital structure objective
  • Prepare and review SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) related to treasury disclosures (debt, liquidity, financial instruments)
  • Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal policies
  • Manage month-end and quarter-end close processes for treasury accounting
  • Support external audit (Primarily Cash confirmation process) and regulatory review processes
  • Assess impact to financial results and processes.  Coordinate with key business partners and escalate issues timely to support decision-making
  • Support and collaborate with finance and other business partners, and other key stakeholders, to ensure compliance with APM requirements, effective controls and accurate reporting
  • Assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Review contracts, research appropriate accounting literature, document conclusions in whitepapers, and develop plan to operationalize accounting processes
  • Navigate and understand various systems eSAP, Global Ledger, FINCORE, GCARS, OneStream, and new FoF tools, etc.
  • Resolve complex accounting issues impacting strategic business initiatives and identify potential accounting risks.  
  • Utilize new technologies and solutions to create more robust controls, process efficiencies and impactful reporting packages. Recommend types of automations, analytics, and data processing approaches to meet business objectives
  • Presentation of financial results to other members of the organization including leadership
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests outside of core job responsibilities
  • Develop strong relationship with business partners support requests/inquiries including Controllership, Finance, International and various other operational partners
  • Model GM’s desired behaviors including safety

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) (required)
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in accounting/finance
  • 5+ Years Accounting Leadership Experience
  • Prior month-end close experience
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to understand and apply accounting and financial reporting standards (US GAAP)
  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects, take on additional responsibilities and deliver within restricted time constraints
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork and partnerships

Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the - Global HQ Detroit, MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
