Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management

Job Summary

The Vice President, Group Enterprise Risk Management plays a key role in strengthening the Bank’s enterprise risk oversight through risk intelligence, analytics, and governance coordination. This role leads the Risk Intelligence Unit, providing forward‑looking insights on emerging risks, economic trends, and strategic threats, while supporting senior management and the Board through high‑quality risk reporting and committee governance. The incumbent will also act as the secretariat for the Group Board Risk Management Committee (GBRMC), ensuring effective risk governance, regulatory coordination, and timely reporting in line with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Risk Intelligence & Analytics

  • Lead the Risk Intelligence Unit, developing and executing a comprehensive risk intelligence strategy aligned with the Bank’s objectives.
  • Identify and assess emerging risks, economic outlook, and potential threats impacting the Bank.
  • Prepare risk intelligence dashboards and analytics, highlighting key trends using internal data and relevant external risk indicators.
  • Monitor and report on Strategic Risk Categories, including:
    • Business Model Risks (industry and consumer impact)
    • External Environment Risks (climate risk, macroeconomic volatility)
    • Strategic Planning Risks (innovation and execution risks)
  • Utilize analytical tools to evaluate risk exposures and provide actionable insights to senior management and the Board.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and relevant external parties to gather and validate risk information.

Governance, Reporting & Committee Secretariat

  • Prepare and consolidate regular risk reports for Management and Board Committees, including:
    • Monthly Group Enterprise Risk Dashboard
    • Updates on key risk management initiatives
    • Progress tracking of remediation actions for regulatory and internal audit findings
  • Lead the GBRMC secretariat, including agenda preparation, coordination of paper submissions, and meeting logistics to ensure effective governance.
  • Coordinate Group Risk Management’s response for BNM Composite Risk Rating (CRR) exercises.
  • Prepare, monitor, and report on the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) and Recovery Indicators.
  • Track and report on Corrective Action Tracking (CAT) for audit findings and Managing for Value (MFV) recommendations.
  • Support and coordinate risk culture awareness initiatives, including risk newsletters and communications across risk functions.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and governance standards in all risk reporting activities.
  • Perform ad‑hoc analysis and assignments as directed by the Head of Enterprise Risk and Group Chief Risk Officer (GCRO).

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Banking, or related disciplines.
  • Professional qualifications such as FRM, CFA, CPA, or equivalent are an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 8–12 years of experience in enterprise risk management, risk analytics, strategy risk, or governance within a banking or financial services environment.
  • Strong exposure to BNM regulatory requirements, risk governance frameworks, and Board‑level reporting.
  • Experience supporting Board or senior management committees is essential.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex risk data.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise risk management, strategic risk, and emerging risk assessment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present insights clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong coordination and organisational skills, particularly in committee and governance matters.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and risk awareness.
  • Proficient in Excel, data analysis tools, and management reporting; exposure to risk systems and dashboards is an advantage.
