Volleyball Travel Team Head Coach: 2026-27 Season

City Beach Volleyball Club is seeking high-energy, growth-oriented Travel Team Head Coaches to lead our athletes for the 2026-2027 season. At City Beach, we believe success is achieved by developing a productive attitude, effective habits, and the ability to give maximum effort. We aren't just looking for volleyball experts; we are looking for leaders committed to developing the "whole person" through a structured and competitive environment. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in sports coaching, experience working with students, and a passion for youth development through athletics. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to influence young athletes and contribute to their growth both on and off the court.

City Beach coaches will have the opportunity to reserve court time for private lessons as well as additional assignments as clinic and program coach.

Duties

  • Evaluation & Tryouts: Mandatory attendance during the primary tryout periods in July and October.
  • The Season: Active coaching and training responsibilities run from November through June.
  • Tournament Schedule: Lead the team through 25+ days of tournament play, typically spread over 8-10 weekends. This includes local power leagues, multi-day regional events, and national qualifiers.
  • Travel: Ability to travel to out-of-region tournaments as required by the team's schedule.
  • Lead, organize, maintain structured practice plans, ensuring skill development and team cohesion
  • Develop, teach, and execute game strategies and oversee team performance during competitions
  • Maintain consistency in player development by following the prescribed coaching framework defined in the Coaches' Handbook
  • Foster a positive, disciplined, and inclusive team culture
  • Monitor player progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Provide on-site leadership during travel tournaments to ensure team conduct and performance align with club values
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed during all team activities
  • Communicate regularly with players, parents, and staff regarding schedules, progress, and team updates
  • Implement behavior management techniques to maintain a respectful and focused environment
  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership among players

Requirements

  • Previous experience in coaching volleyball; previous club and travel team experience is highly desirable
  • Experience working with students of various ages and skill levels
  • Knowledge of behavior management strategies to support positive conduct on and off the court
  • Ability to lead by example with excellent communication skills
  • Passion for youth development through sports and physical activity
  • Technical proficiency in teach all skills involved in the sport
  • Must be organized, responsible, and able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends during tournaments or travel days
