Our teams use Agile and DevOps practices , infrastructure‑as‑code, and cloud‑native services to streamline business processes, improve system resiliency, and accelerate delivery. This role offers the opportunity to work on high‑impact solutions that directly support reliable electric service and the digital transformation of FirstEnergy.

Responsibilities Include: Core Cloud Engineer Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and support Azure cloud infrastructure using infrastructure‑as‑code practices with Terraform.
  • Build, maintain, and support CI/CD pipelines to automate provisioning, deployment, and configuration of cloud resources.
  • Apply established cloud security, networking, resiliency, and governance patterns to deliver well‑managed enterprise environments.
  • Collaborate within Agile teams to deliver, iterate, and support cloud solutions aligned to business and operational needs.
  • Continuously learn and apply new cloud technologies and practices to improve platform reliability and delivery efficiency.
Cloud Engineer Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain cloud architecture and pipelines that adhere to cloud engineering best practices and FirstEnergy’s business goals.
  • Help to implement a strategy for establishing a secure and well-managed enterprise environment in Azure.
  • Support cloud developers in optimizing and automating cloud deployment activities – e.g. CI/CD, provisioning, and deployment.
  • Develop Terraform modules & pipelines to automate the deployment of resources and associated configurations.
  • Utilize native Azure services to meet the firm’s technology and resiliency requirements.
  • Work as part of a highly collaborative agile team.
  • Design, develop, optimize, and maintain cloud architecture and pipelines that adhere to cloud engineering best practices and FirstEnergy’s business goals.
  • Create/support strategy for establishing a secure and well-managed enterprise environment in Azure
  • Support cloud developers in optimizing and automating cloud deployment activities – e.g. CI/CD, provisioning, and deployment.

  • Design Develop Terraform modules & pipelines to automate the deployment of resources and associated configurations.
  • Work as part of a highly collaborative agile team.
  • Design and implement data protection options, including HA and BCP protection in Azure.

  • Engage in close collaboration with leadership, product, and design to ensure a cohesive end-to-end architecture and seamless delivery of functionalities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, MIS or another related field.
  • I years with degree, 2 years without in supporting the strategy, architecture, design and implementation of cloud initiatives.
  • 2 years with degree, 4 years without in supporting the strategy, architecture, design and implementation of cloud initiatives.
  • Experience with configuring, deploying, and automating Azure cloud environments (AWS and GCP experience are a nice to have)
  • Experience with Terraform, YAML, & Azure DevOps pipelines.
  • Experience in the Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Experience working in an environment with rapid prototyping and piloting of cloud solutions.
  • DevOps automation experience including setup and configuration of CI/CD processes
  • Expertise in infrastructure as code (e.g., ARM, Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Chocolatey)
