Key Responsibilities

As a Surgical Technologist - First Assistant, you will:

  • Provide direct intraoperative assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures
  • Assist with exposure, hemostasis, suturing, and wound closure under physician direction
  • Maintain a sterile field and ensure adherence to strict infection control protocols
  • Anticipate surgeon needs and provide appropriate instruments and supplies
  • Assist with patient positioning and preparation for surgery
  • Support surgical counts and documentation with the circulating nurse
  • Participate in room setup, turnover, and equipment preparation
  • Collaborate closely with the surgical team to ensure safe and efficient procedures
Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
  • Surgical First Assistant (CSFA or equivalent) certification required or strongly preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • 1-2 years of surgical first assist or advanced OR experience required
  • Strong technical skill, attention to detail, and ability to perform under pressure
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
