THE WOW As a Team Lead – Wallet at Betsson Group, you will lead a team of talented engineers responsible for one of the most critical platforms in our ecosystem – the system that securely handles player balances and financial transactions across our global gaming operations.

Wallet platform is one of Betsson’s most critical systems, responsible for maintaining player balances and processing high volumes of real-time financial transactions across multiple regulated markets with strict requirements on correctness, reliability, and consistency.

As a Team Lead, you will play a key role in both technical leadership and people leadership, working hands-on with your team to design, build and evolve one of Betsson’s core platforms.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, where you will remain closely involved in architecture and engineering decisions while helping your team grow and succeed.

You will join our growing engineering hub in Málaga, collaborating with international teams across Betsson’s global technology organization.

ABOUT THE JOB Wallet platform is responsible for the secure and reliable handling of player funds across Betsson’s global operations, supporting deposits, withdrawals, bets, winnings, bonuses and adjustments across multiple products and markets. Because the platform handles player balances and financial transactions, correctness, consistency, and auditability are critical design considerations.

Wallet is a transaction-heavy system with a strong relational database core, and engineers are expected to have strong understanding of backend architecture, data consistency, and performance considerations.

You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Architects, DBAs, and DevOps teams to ensure the platform evolves to meet both business and regulatory needs across multiple jurisdictions.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY As a Team Lead and Backend Engineer, you will

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, supporting their growth and development
  • Take part in recruiting, onboarding and performance reviews
  • Work closely with Product Managers and stakeholders to deliver business and regulatory requirements
  • Design and develop backend systems that are scalable, reliable and maintainable
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technology evolution of the Wallet platform
  • Collaborate with DBAs and DevOps to ensure optimal system performance and operational stability
  • Drive improvements in system performance, reliability and cost efficiency
  • Help maintain high engineering standards through code reviews and technical discussions
  • Help drive adoption of AI-assisted development tools and workflows to improve productivity, code quality, and engineering practices

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 5+ years of experience in software development
  • Experience leading or mentoring teams of software engineers
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Excellent knowledge of C# and .NET
  • Experience designing scalable backend systems
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and data consistency
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, transaction processing, and query performance
