Discover a career in banking at Fifth Third Bank.<br><br><strong>General Function<br><br></strong>The incumbent is the strategic director of the underwriting/monitoring function for loans within the<br><br>Commercial Bank. Responsibilities include leadership and management of the commercial credit portfolio within the assigned credit segment. This includes oversight of the underwriting and proactive monitoring of the credit portfolios originated by the supported coverage teams, ensure policies/procedures are followed and appropriately documented, personnel resources are managed and talent is developed to create a strong risk culture that sees risk holistically. This position is highly accountable for early risk recognition in existing portfolios and identification of risk with new and expanded client relationships. Responsible for influencing outcomes on escalated requests Responsibilities also include close dialogue with Credit Risk partners to communicate/understand issues within portfolios or teams and ensure remediation/action plans are executed.<br><br>Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.<br><br><strong>Essential Duties And Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Direct supervisory responsibilities to the various Credit Leads and teams reporting into their role.</li><li>Strategic oversight of the commercial credit underwriting and monitoring functions within the respective exposure channel.</li><li>Monitor divisional adherence to Credit Excellence statistics.</li><li>Proactively identify and advocate for process improvements and innovate solutions to drive organizational growth and efficiency.</li><li>Foster and promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovative thinking within the team, facilitating feedback discussions, and implementing best practices to enhance overall performance and productivity</li><li>Provide timely, candid and constructive feedback to various Credit Leads and LOB counterparts.</li><li>Work with teams to drive faster Risk decision making with more complete underwriting work product.</li><li>Ensure team is developed to full potential via challenging opportunities and available training and coaching.</li><li>Recognition of teamwork and potential solutions.</li><li>Manage resources for best-in-class client experience.</li><li>Provides point of view on escalated transactions to remove roadblocks in expeditious manner.</li><li>Engages with Credit Risk and Credit Risk Review regularly for continuous feedback.</li><li>Drives streamlined solutions to underwriting credit risk within our risk tolerance.</li><li>Challenges status quo to ensure we get to the best solution.</li><li>Properly staff positions within areas of responsibility.</li><li>Provide input on Credit Risk training.</li><li>Coordinate with reporting and analytics team to ensure comprehensive and accurate risk reporting and escalation.<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities<br><br></strong>Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback, developing employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth, developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning, recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.<br><br><strong>Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required<br><br></strong><ul><li>Bachelor's degree required.
