[Remote] Director of Accounting

They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Accounting to lead their accounting operations, ensure the accuracy of financial records, and provide strategic financial insights. Responsibilities Oversee and guide daily accounting operations, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and month-end and year-end close processes Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all relevant regulations Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient internal controls Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders Analyze financial data and provide insights to management on key performance indicators and trends Oversee the revenue recognition process, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and other relevant guidance Review customer contracts and assess proper revenue recognition treatment Work closely with sales and legal teams to address revenue recognition matters Oversee and manage the annual financial audit and income tax preparation processes Oversee audit schedules and support internal audits Ensure compliance with SOX requirements Cultivate a collaborative and high-performing team environment Effectively delegate tasks and monitor team performance Mentor and develop the team, preparing them for future growth within the organization Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy Stay abreast of best practices in accounting and technology Proactively seek out opportunities to improve and scale financial systems and processes in anticipation of future growth and the transition to the Controller role Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field CPA preferred 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership role Strong technical accounting knowledge GAAP expertise In-depth understanding of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606) Experience with NetSuite is required Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across the organization Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proactive and solutions-oriented approach Benefits Offers Equity Remote Company Overview Rescale is a cloud simulation platform that enables research scientists and engineers to build, compute, analyze, and scale simulations.
