[Remote] Financial Systems Analyst Lead

Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Systems Analyst Lead to support and optimize the finance department’s financial systems and business processes. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance system functionality, ensure data integrity, and streamline processes while providing leadership and support for financial system upgrades and maintenance. Responsibilities Researches, evaluates, and analyzes the use and performance of financial software and related operational strategies, business processes and procedures. Makes recommendations to improve responsiveness, accuracy, usability, and reliability of financial, budgetary, and accounting operations, transactions, and reporting Participates in new software procurement including requirement gathering, initial studies, creation of functional and technical specification and evaluation of vendor interviews and responses Combines financial analysis, reporting, and business systems analysis to support solutions for budget, finance, and administration areas, as well as management reporting in general Prepares and reviews varied financial and operating reports and analyses in multiple software systems for supervisors, internal organizational areas, and external parties as needed. These could include status reports, monthly and quarterly summaries, forecasts, and other analyses relating to all aspects of operations including budgets, budget to actuals, actuals, costing, cost variances, project systems, capital assets, funding, and other various areas Actively participates in and contributes to financial system upgrades, implementations, and system and process re-engineering efforts. Provides support in the development, implementation, and optimization of business application systems, and evaluates the impact of process changes Troubleshoots, analyzes, resolves, monitors and documents complex user inquiries and issues with system configuration and interfaces, data collection, data retrieval, queries, reporting, program intent, and data errors Analyzes and executes alternative methods and techniques for optimizing software use to support timely and accurate financial information, transactions, and reporting Researches and performs analysis of data sources and relationships Designs, coordinates, and executes complex functional test scenarios, cases, scripts, and plans to evaluate software and operational changes Translates business and stakeholder requirements into functional software specifications for financial system projects, upgrades, and reporting needs Develops, plans, coordinates, and conducts technical and procedural training and informational workshops for business readiness activities Studies actual and potential problems and presents findings and solution alternatives to supervisors Analyzes data in support of business functions and process knowledge. Uses analysis and modeling techniques to support institutional processes and promote organizational improvement Prepares, reviews, and approves documentation to departmental standards Functions as a liason with the IT department collaborating in the implementation and support of budget, finance, and accounting related technology projects and initiatives Works with the IT department, users, vendors, and consultants to resolve questions regarding program intent, output requirements, reporting, and data management Coordinates with the IT department to establish and track project priorities and progress. Provides leadership to cross-functional linked teams in addressing financial or systems issues Performs other analyst work in the Budget, Finance, and Accounting department, as deemed necessary by supervisor Provides direction and oversight of work of lower level analysts in the Finance and Accounting department of the Department as needed Works with the budget, finance, and accounting departments to ensure compliance with established internal policies and procedures, and external requirements and standards such as NARUC (National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Develops and modifies detailed reporting procedures, policies and systems in order to meet the changing requirements of the Department Attends work on continuous and regular basis Skills Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Information Technology, mathematics, business administration or related field, and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in business information systems, integrated system analysis, professional analytics, or software lifecycle management; or Associate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Information Technology, mathematics, business administration, or related field and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in business information systems, integrated system analysis, professional analytics, or software lifecycle management; or Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in business information systems, integrated system analysis, professional analytics, or software lifecycle management Valid Florida Class E Driver's License required General proficiency with applications in the Microsoft Office suite Advanced knowledge and experience of the data and process flow within an integrated software system Advanced computer skills, including expertise in Microsoft Excel using formulas, lookups, pivots, charts, and graphs.
